Hunger

Loaf of bread

You gave me a loaf of bread
When my belly sang tales
Of loneliness,
And my bones were
Bumps in the road
Of my torso,
When my shy free
Clavicles laid their
Nude self into the world,
And my skin
Held to my skeleton
Like thin tapestry,
You gave me a load of
Bread,
When these teeth
Were food orphans,
And gave me life
As my tongue
Became a carpet
To a welcoming savior
